A-Class Europeans - Final Day

Lack of wind meant the championship was decided on just five races in Warnemünder Woche

Glen Ashby of Australia, with four first places in five races and one third place, took the overall regatta week, with second placed Manuel Calavia of Spain taking the Europen Championship.

Maciej Zarnowski of Poland was second European and in third place was Switzerland's Sandro Caviezel.

Best placed British competitor was Adam May in 11th place overall. Oscar Lindley-Smith was 37th.

For two days the A-Cat sailors had to stay in the harbour either because of heavy wind or because of too little wind.

For Championship races, the class regulations only allow races between a wind window of 6
to 22 knots, i.e. 3 to 5 Beaufort.

The next major European event is the 2019 Worlds at WPNSA, Weymouth.

This place is a flat water foiling paradise and is very rarely unsailable.
