Genève-Rolle-Genève - Alinghi home first

Saturday saw the first classic long distance race of the season on Lake Geneva, the Genève-Rolle-Genève.

Overall winner was Ernesto Bertarelli with his D35 multihull 'Alinghi', finishing 31 minutes ahead of Guy De Picciotto and his 'Zen Too' team.

In third place was Romuald Hausser helming 'Realteam' and in fourth Lloyd Thornburg's Phaedo with his team of Chris Draper, Ed Smyth, Peter Greenhalgh, Haylee Outterridge and Julien Cressant.

The Genève-Rolle-Genève takes the boats a third of the way down Lake Geneva and back.

Over 200 boats were entered, with many featuring foiling designs, but the day was a typical light wind lake day, with the race at times coming to a standstill.

After the M1 multihulls, the first M2 catamaran was Yvan Ducros in 12th place.

The first monohull was François Thorens' Psaros 40 'TBS Ardentis' in 23rd place.

The next lake event is the ‘Bol d'Or’ which will celebrate its 80th edition next week.
