Volvo Ocean Race - Full speed ahead

Full speed ahead as the Volvo Race fleet head towards Gothenburg

The fleet is into the new breeze from the southwest and heading past the Isle of Lewis towards the north of Scotland this morning at 20+ knots.

All boats have similar pressure/direction with MAPFRE leading.

The leading five are still within ten miles of each other with Vestas a further six miles back and Scallywag trailing the fleet by around 50 nm.

The forecast is for testing conditions – 40 knots of breeze and poor visibility around Scotland, a breezy upwind passage across the North Sea then even stronger winds and bigger seas off the coast of Norway.

The ETA into the finish of Leg 10 in Gothenburg, Sweden is currently late on Thursday evening UTC.
